Ingo Senftleben (born August 10, 1974 in Großenhain ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and was CDU parliamentary group leader and opposition leader in the Brandenburg state parliament from November 18, 2014 to September 2019 . From April 25, 2015 to September 10, 2019 he was also state chairman of the CDU Brandenburg . In the state elections in Brandenburg in 2019 , Senftleben ran as the top candidate for the office of Prime Minister.

Life and work

Ingo Senftleben grew up in Ortrand and attended the Polytechnic High School there from 1981 to 1991 . After training as a bricklayer until 1994, he worked as a construction worker until 1995 and foreman in the bridge construction department of STRABAG AG until 1999 . From 1995 to 2001 he completed further training as a state-certified structural engineer at an institute in Hamburg . From 2006 to 2008 he was the managing director of See Campus - Niederlausitz GmbH.

Ingo Senftleben is Protestant, married and has three daughters.

Party political activity

Senftleben has been a member of the CDU since 1997. From 1997 to 1999 he was district chairman of the Junge Union in the Oberspreewald-Lausitz district and from 1998 to 2007 he was deputy state chairman of the Junge Union Brandenburg. Senftleben has been a member of the CDU Brandenburg regional executive committee since 2005. In November 2014 he was elected chairman of the CDU parliamentary group in Brandenburg.

On April 25, 2015, he was elected regional chairman of the CDU Brandenburg with 78 percent of the votes in a fighting vote, with his opponent Wieland Niekisch receiving 13.6 percent of the vote.

Activity as a member of parliament

From 1998 to 2016 Ingo Senftleben was a member of the city council in his hometown Ortrand. From 2003 to 2014 he was mayor of the city of Ortrand and since 2003 he has been a member of the Oberspreewald-Lausitz district council. Senftleben has had a seat in the Brandenburg state parliament since September 1999. In the state elections in 2004, 2009, 2014 and 2019, he was able to prevail against the other candidates in the Oberspreewald-Lausitz I constituency with 34.9%, 37.1%, 36.2% and 26.3% of the first votes, respectively. He thus moved directly into Parliament again.

In the years 1999-2004 Senftleben held the office of youth policy spokesman for the CDU parliamentary group in the Brandenburg state parliament. From 2004 to 2009 he was chairman of the committee for education, youth and sport and spokesman for education policy; from 2009 to 2014 he was Parliamentary Managing Director of the CDU parliamentary group in Brandenburg and spokesman for the CDU parliamentary group for rural areas and demography; from 2009 to 2019 he was a member of the Presidium and Main Committee of the Brandenburg State Parliament; From November 2014 to September 2019 he was parliamentary group leader in the CDU parliamentary group. Senftleben was a member of the lignite committee of the state of Brandenburg between 2014 and 2017 and deputy chairman of the BER special committee between 2013 and 2014. In the current 7th electoral term of the Brandenburg state parliament, he is the spokesman for the CDU state parliamentary group for agriculture, the environment, climate protection and the media. He has been a member of the rbb Broadcasting Council since February 2015.

Top candidacy in the 2019 state elections

Because he was proposed as the only candidate for a planned membership decision of the CDU Brandenburg for the top candidate in the state elections in Brandenburg 2019 by the end of the deadline on February 1, 2019 , Senftleben automatically became the top candidate. Due to the poor performance of his party and massive criticism of him within the party, Senftleben resigned from his leadership positions as party and parliamentary group chairman on September 10, 2019.

Ingo Senftleben is the chairman of the SeeCampus Schwarzheide-Lauchhammer eV development association and a member of the board of the “Neue Heimat in Brandenburg eV” association. He is also involved in the Friends of the Hohennauen Church. in the water sports community Niederlausitz eV, in the Burkersdorfer Kirmes Klub eV, in the association Bürgerernahes Brandenburg eV and in the Friends of the LandesPolizeiorchester Brandenburg eV
