Fred Krohn

Fred Krohn (born March 21, 1961 ) is a former German soccer player who played in 1985 for BSG Stahl Brandenburg in the GDR Oberliga .

Athletic career

Krohn played for the first time in GDR-wide football, after he was promoted to the second-rate GDR league in 1983 with the company sports association (BSG) Motor Stralsund from the Rostock district league .

After the Stralsunder had to relegate again after a year, the 1.86 m tall Krohn moved in the summer of 1984 to the GDR upper league promoted BSG Stahl Brandenburg , where he was designated as a midfielder. However, he was only used in the second half of the league season 1984/85. On the 16th matchday he came into the team in the match between Hansa Rostock and Stahl Brandenburg (2-1) in the 57th minute. After that, he was only called up once on the 19th matchday, he was initially in the starting line-up, but played as a central defender for only 70 minutes.

For the 1985/86 season, Krohn joined the BSG KKW Greifswald , which had previously been promoted to the GDR league. He stayed in Greifswald for three seasons, in which he played 83 out of 102 point games and scored eight goals. In the summer of 1988, Krohn moved to league competitor BSG Motor Ludwigsfelde . After being a regular player in the 1988/89 season with 32 league matches (3 goals), Krohn left BSG Motor during the first half of the 1989/90 season and played for BSG, which also played in the GDR league, in December 1989 Stahl Hennigsdorf . In July 1990 Krohn was taken over by the newly founded club FC Stahl Hennigsdorf and played for this until the end of the 1990/91 season in the second-rate NOFV league .
