Fred Rai Western-City is a German western park in Dasing near Augsburg .

history

The leisure and adventure park with the motto " Stars and Shows and Attractions " was founded in 1980 by the western singer and rider Fred Rai , who died in 2015 , after he had used his "western town", which was previously used as a tour backdrop , for a ranch festival in August 1979 and two more Events at his riding stables in Dasing and decided to stay there permanently. The scenery came from a city festival in Gummersbach , which Rai took instead of his fee and originally rented it out.

In 1980, the founder realized his long-standing dream there and opened today's amusement park, the area of ​​which was originally 4,000 square meters and has now increased tenfold. Over the years, the original mobile backdrops have been replaced by fixed buildings.

The “Memorial Hall” shows historical documents as well as a life-size replica of Rais legendary horse “Spitzbub”. The museum of the western town shows, among other things, memorabilia from his personal possessions and a documentation of his career using press clippings. In addition, the federal training center for Rai riding founded by Rai is located on the site . The western town has served as a film set several times. The amusement park supports several charitable organizations that work for humans and animals.

The company also owns a travel company.

South German Karl May Festival

In 2005, Fred Rai founded the annual Süddeutsche Karl-May-Festspiele, at which he was not only active as artistic director , but also as an actor , mostly in the role of the villain and in his typical role as a riding singer.

Matthias Mühlbauer (* 1982), known as a musician under " Matthew Daniels ", plays the role of Winnetous . Horst Janson played the " Old Shatterhand " in 2006 in Der Schatz im Silbersee and in 2007 and 2008 the " Old Firehand ". In 2007 and 2008 his daughter Sarah-Jane was seen at the games. In 2009 he played "Old Firehand" in Winnetou and Captain Kaiman . Other well-known actors are / were Helmut Urban (since 2012) and Alexander-Klaus Stecher (2011).

According to the wishes of the founder and the employees, the festival continues.

In 2015 Claudia Jung played the role of "Kate Edwards" in the play Der Schatz im Silbersee . Rais' role as "Colonel Brinkley" was taken on by Peter Bechtel.

Fire accident in 2013

In September 2013, parts of the facility were destroyed by a major fire after the flames in the tunnel of the park's own railway, caused by a technical defect, hit the wooden fence of the area and then other wooden props and four cars. The police ruled out deliberate arson in advance.

Fire accident 2017

In July 2017, the facility was almost completely destroyed by another major fire. The cause of the fire was probably arson. A perpetrator could not be identified.
