Fred Rai , civic Manfred Raible (* 27. November 1941 in Ellwangen ; † 24. April 2015 in Dasing ), was a German rider , riding instructor, horse whisperer , Author , Country - singer and leisure park founders.

Life

Fred Rai was born in 1941 as the youngest of five sons of a cardboard manufacturer in Ellwang. At a young age he completed piano, guitar and vocal training as a bass baritone . In childhood and adolescence, he made music within the framework of his parents' family.

At the request of his father, he learned the profession of insurance salesman and at the age of 28 was the youngest district director of a large German insurance group at the time.

Acting as a western and country star

From the mid-1970s he set out on horseback as country and pop singer known as a singing cowboy was in the SWF - hit parade represented and performed at home and abroad. Later he traveled through Germany with the complete backdrop of a western town. After he had set up his western town for a ranch festival in August 1979 and two other events at his riding stables in Dasing near Augsburg, he decided to stay there. In 1980 he opened the amusement park Fred Rai Western-City , where in 2005, as director and actor, he brought the annual South German Karl May Festival to life, which will continue after his death . In 2015, Peter Bechtel got his role as the villain "Colonel Brinkley" in the play The Treasure in Silbersee .

Act as horse whisperer and animal rights activist

Fred Rai, a former tournament rider , was an advocate for the renouncement of bits , spurs and crop in recreational and trail riding . At his Lucky Hills Ranch in Tombstone , Arizona , acquired in 1993 , where he later spent his winters, he learned western riding and researched the behavior of horses . His technique, which is similar to western riding, in which the horse is given only fine pressure and weight aids, is known as rai riding . He also imparted his knowledge in the field of equine psychology as a lecturer at the universities in Stuttgart and Munich.

In 1993 he was the founder of the European Horse Protection Association and the Federal Association for RAI Riding, which now includes several training centers in other European countries. He was a member of the animal union. In October 2011, he handed 4,000 signatures to the German Animal Welfare Association calling for reduced travel times for slaughtered animals as part of the 8hours campaign .

On the evening of April 24, 2015, Fred Rai was on a ride with his partner in the Neulholz forest when he fell from his horse. Employees' suspicion of a stroke as the cause of the fall was later officially confirmed by the treating emergency doctor .
