Freddy Eichelberger (* 1961 in Paris ) is a French organist and harpsichordist .

Live and act

Eichelberger studied organ with Odile Bailleux and Jean Boyer at the Lille Conservatory , where he graduated in 1988 with a first prize. He also studied the harpsichord with Blandine Verlet and Noëlle Spieth . In the practice of music of the Middle Ages he took lessons from Marcel Pérès , for Renaissance music from Ariane Maurette .

He mainly devotes himself to chamber music on historical instruments as well as musical theater , for example with his ensemble Les Witches, with whom he has also released several albums, for his improvisations on Shakespeare texts or the interpretation of works from John Playford's collection The English Dancing Master got known. In this ensemble, he plays harpsichord, organ and cister, a spinet combined with board games and a shelf that is a copy of an original made in 1587 for Emperor Ferdinand I. For many years he has played with the violinist Odile Edouard in a duo and in the ensemble Sine Titulo ; he also appears with the serpent player Michel Godard .

Eichelberger is one of the organizers and interpreters of the performance of all Bach cantatas in the Église Réformée in Paris-Bastille.
