Frederick Lane
Frederick "Freddy" Claude Vivian Lane (born February 2, 1880 in Millers Point , Sydney City , † May 14, 1969 in Avalon , New South Wales ) was an Australian swimmer .
He was the first Australian to take part in the Olympic Games. At the Olympic Games in Paris in 1900 he was a member of the British team. He won gold medals in the 200 m freestyle and 200 m obstacle swimming at these games . In 1969 he was inducted into the international swimming pool 's hall of fame .
