Duncan John D'Arcy Armstrong (born April 7, 1968 in Rockhampton , Queensland ) is a former Australian swimmer .
Career
He had his best time as a swimmer in the 1988 Olympics in Seoul , when he Olympic champion in the 200m freestyle was and won the silver medal in the 400m freestyle. Over 200 m he was able to surprise the favorites Matt Biondi , Artur Wojdat and Michael Groß , as he was able to catch up as a specialist for longer distances on the final track. On the longer route he had to give in to the German Uwe Daßler a few days after his triumph .
After his career he became a sports reporter. In 1996 he was inducted into the international swimming pool 's hall of fame .
