Frederick Robert St John

Sir Frederick Robert St John KCMG (March 2, 1831 - February 27, 1923 ) was a British diplomat .

Life

Frederick Robert St John was the fourth son of Selina Charlotte Keatinge and George St John, 3rd Viscount Bolingbroke .

St John graduated from Cheltenham College . In 1855 he entered the foreign service. He was an attaché in Florence and in 1861 in Stuttgart . From 1862 to 1863 he was the embassy secretary in Beijing . From 1868 to 1872 he was at the embassy in Vienna. From 1872 Frederick Robert St John was embassy secretary in Buenos Aires. From 1877 Frederick Robert St John was Embassy Secretary in Rio de Janeiro . From 1879 Frederick Robert St John was the embassy secretary in Constantinople .

On February 12, 1881, he was appointed envoy to Central America. On April 18, 1882, he married Isabella Annie Fitzmaurice. They had three daughters and three sons. Oliver Peter St John (* 1938) is the grandson from this marriage.

In 1901 Frederick Robert St John was retired and Knight Commander in the Order of St. Michael and St. George .
