Frednowy (German Frödenau ) is a Polish village in the rural community of Iława in the powiat Iławski in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship . In 2002 the village had over 800 inhabitants. It was founded in the years 1316 to 1326.
Due to the provisions of the Versailles Treaty , the population in the Marienwerder voting area , to which Frödenau belonged, voted on July 11, 1920 on whether they would continue to belong to East Prussia (and thus to Germany) or join Poland. In Frödenau, 165 people voted to stay with East Prussia, while Poland did not vote.
From 1975 to 1998 the village belonged to the Olsztyn Voivodeship .
In the village there is a baroque church from 1768 with a tower added in 1928.
A turkey production center operated by Indykpol is located in Frednowy .
