Fredrik Persson (born February 7, 1979 ) is a former Swedish cross-country skier .

Career

Persson, who started for Åsarna IK and Kilsmo IK, had his first international success at the 1999 Junior World Ski Championships in Saalfelden . There he won the silver medal with the relay. He ran his first race in the Continental Cup in Orsa in December 2000 and finished 35th in the sprint. In March 2001 he made his debut in Falun in the cross-country skiing world cup and achieved 77th place over 15 km classic. In February 2004 he came in at the Continental Cup in Hommelvik over 10 km classic and in February 2005 in the Scandinavian Cup in Sundsvall in the skiathlon in each case on the second place. In the 2005/06 season he reached four top ten placements in the Scandinavian Cup, including second place over 15 km freestyle in Skellefteå and second place over 30 km classic in Haanja and thus achieved third place in the overall standings. He was also Swedish champion in the team sprint in 2006 together with Mats Larsson . In March 2007 he got his first and only World Cup point in Stockholm with his 16th participation in the individual World Cup and thus his last World Cup participation with the 30th place in the sprint. In December 2009 he was third at the Scandinavian Cup in Lygna over 15 km classic. Persson also took part in FIS races from 1999 to 2009 . He took six wins, including the win at Vasaloppet China in early 2008 .
