The 1972 European Free Game Championship was the 17th tournament in this discipline of carom billiards and took place from May 17th to 20th, 1972 in Reus . It was the fourth European Free Game Championship in Spain.

history

Two unplanned defeats against Franz Stenzel and Dieter Wirtz cost Klaus Hose from Bochum to defend his title. Despite all the best performances in the tournament, it was only enough to finish second in the end. The Spaniard José Gálvez did better . In the last game against Hose he could even afford a defeat. His great talent was shown by the 23-year-old Parisian Francis Connesson , who deservedly took third place. In his first international appearance, Dieter Wirtz from Düsseldorf came in good fifth.

mode

The game was played in a final round "everyone against everyone" up to 500 points. In the event of a tie in a recording, each player received two match points. Extended series were counted.
