The free-game European championship in 1992 was the 23rd tournament in this discipline of carom billiards and took place from 8 to 10 May 1992 in Bottrop . It was the fifth free-game European championship in Germany.
history
The 23rd European Free Game Championship ended with a surprise victory. The French Brahim Djoubri secured the title ahead of Stefan Galla , who again only achieved second place. With Stephan Horvath, an Austrian landed on the podium for the first time in the free game. With the best general average (GD) of all participants, Volker Baten from Bochum came third. Almost all favorites ended up in the defeated field.
mode
A preliminary round was played in 6 groups of three and four players. Here seven players were determined who met the nine seeded players. Then there was a double knockout system with a winning and a consolation round, whereby the players for the final and the game for third place were determined. The game was played on two sets of 100 points each. If a sentence ended 100: 100 in a recording there was a tie break. If this tie ended, a gang decision was played to determine the winner. It was played without a break, except for one game in a recording. If a set was won, there was a set point. If the sentence was undecided, there was a half sentence point. With the same set ratio, the player who scored more points was better in the table. The Belgian Philippe Draes made it through to the finals in qualifying.
