Frelenberg is a northern district of Übach-Palenberg in the Heinsberg district and is located on the Wurm . On December 31, 2015, 3180 people lived here. The place has two kindergartens and a community elementary school . There is a sewage treatment plant at the worm.

There are two Catholic churches and one Protestant church in Frelenberg: The new Catholic parish church of St. Dionysius , which, like the old church, is dedicated to St. Dionysius of Paris , is a large and modern sacred building that has been used for church services since 1960.
The old Catholic parish church, which was used until 1960, is a single-aisled, white-coated building made of quarry stone and brick with a western tower from the 15th or 16th century. The middle part of the nave is late Gothic, the western part and tower from the 18th century, the eastern part from the 19th century, the choir from 1826. The church has a cemetery with tombstones from the 17th century .
The Evangelical Christ Church was built in 1954.

The next motorway connections are the “Alsdorf” and “Aldenhoven” junctions on the A 44 and “Heinsberg” on the A 46 . AVV buses connect Frelenberg with all other parts of the city as well as with Geilenkirchen and the Dutch Landgraaf .
