Freudenberger Bauernbühne

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Freudenberger Bauernbühne is a farmer's theater from Freudenberg , a municipality near Amberg in the Upper Palatinate in Bavaria .

history

The peasant theater came into being after the Second World War through the initiative of some idealists. Its history goes back to 1946. At that time, the play " The evil spirit Lumpazivagabundus " was performed for the first time by amateur actors in Freudenberg . In the beginning, the approximately three to five annual performances of the theater group took place on a small scale in a Freudenberg restaurant. The theater group was continued by the Catholic rural youth movement Freudenberg- Wutschdorf . She later moved to the youth home in Wutschdorf, a district of the Freudenberg community. Her regular theater performances have been taking place in Freudenberg since the 1960s. From the 1980s the country youth theater group appeared under the name “Freudenberger Bauernbühne”. The group's annual theater performances have been held in the spring and autumn seasons since 1997, the anniversary year.

In March 1998 a development association was founded to organize the theater group's activities. It currently has 270 members and is a member of the Association of Bavarian Amateur Theaters . The Bavarian state actor Toni Berger was an honorary member of the association until his death .

meaning

Lay or amateur stages are of great traditional importance in the Upper Palatinate. "Together with their surroundings they form small cultural centers that are of eminently important importance for the entire rural area." The Freudenberger Bauernbühne is known as an amateur theater in the Upper Palatinate and beyond. The Freudenberg community, which actively supports the theater group, advertises tourists not only with the level of awareness of the amateur theater, but also with various activities in the larger community.

ensemble

The ensemble consisted of about 20 active players in 2010. The artistic direction of the group currently has a board member of the friends' association.

With its 25 to 30 annual performances, the Freudenberger Bauernbühne reaches around 4,500 spectators.

repertoire

The repertoire of the Freudenberger Bauernbühne mainly includes peasant pieces, taunts , antics and clothes . Since it has been in existence for over 60 years, the theater group has performed many different plays - including the well-known play Der Brandner Kaspar and the eternal life (2002, 2006 and 2012 as an open-air theater on the church square in Wutschdorf). With the folk piece Magdalena by Ludwig Thoma in 2008, the stage impressively demonstrated that it can also play serious subjects.

Other Projects

In addition to the performance of its own pieces, the Freudenberger Bauernbühne is pursuing other projects, for example performances in the Vilstheater in Amberg, at the Leuchtenberg Castle Festival , at the Upper Palatinate Theater in the Neusath-Perschen Open Air Museum , as well as nativity plays and the search for a hostel . Another highlight was the participation in the Amberg World Theater, which was performed on the occasion of the 975th anniversary of the city of Amberg on the Mariahilf-Berg.

In March 2005 the Freudenberger Bauernbühne took part in a supraregional Upper Palatinate theater project on the Ludwig Thoma Evening: At the "Schafferhof" in Neuhaus near Windischeschenbach , the Freudenberg theater group, the amateur theater group Windischeschenbach and the ensemble of the Leuchtenberg Castle Festival performed as part of a benefit event . The proceeds from the event went to the Children's University Clinic East Bavaria (KUNO).
