Life
Elting was nicknamed Tito by a teacher when he was at school . At the age of nine he wore the 1. FC Bocholt jersey for the first time in December 1945 and played as a senior player over 700 times for the club until the 1960s. With Bocholt he rose in 1959 to the Association League Niederrhein , the highest German amateur class. The achievements of the trained middle runner aroused the interest of professional clubs such as Borussia Mönchengladbach and Duisburger SpV , but Elting rejected all offers of contract players.

The trained banker and later bank director of Volksbank Bocholt was associated with 1. FC Bocholt for six decades: as a player, coach, sports manager and from 2000 as club president.
His cousin Josef Elting was also a professional footballer and played a. a. for FC Schalke 04 and 1. FC Kaiserslautern .
After his death, a youth soccer tournament of the same name was founded, which is held annually on September 1st and 2nd at the sports facility of 1. FC Bocholt . To this day, numerous well-known youth training centers and Bundesliga clubs send their U13 junior teams to Hünting .
