history

In 1926 a parish hall was built for the then 500 evangelical parishioners in Friedlingen. The West Parish, newly formed in 1937, was separated from the Friedlingen district on November 1, 1957 and made an independent parish. Due to the sudden increase in the number of parishioners, plans for the construction of a new church were pursued from the end of the 1950s. Construction began on December 3, 1961; the commissioning took place on December 1, 1963. The architect of the Friedenskirche is Zoltán Tóth.

description

Building

The Friedenskirche consists of a nave with a choir , the structure of which has the shape of an elongated hexagon and is spanned by a copper-clad gable roof . Separated to the southwest from the nave is a 25 meter high campanile , the floor plan of which is also hexagonal and tapers conically towards the top . Its exposed concrete frame divides the upward running edge lines and the six floors from each other. In between, the facade of the tower has a red clinker cladding . The nave is also clad with bright red bricks. The sacristy is on the lower floor of the church. The community premises are located in the basement.

Interior and equipment

The red clinker tile floor carries the color of the exterior cladding into the interior. The cross struts of the open roof structure are visible in the sparse interior; the interior walls are white to grayish plastered. In contrast, there is the altar area, which is made of dark natural slate. The altar table, pulpit and baptismal font are made of light Main sandstone . The pulpit and font are decorated with relief decorations by Emilie Clauss. The baptismal font, the lights and the rooster on the roof ridge of the nave were made by the Lahr artist Hayno Focken . The glazing of the concrete framed windows was designed by the painter Harry MacLean .

Bells and organ

The four-part bronze bell cast in 1962 by the company Bachert from Karlsruhe. It is tuned to the beat notes a ′, c ′ ′, d ′ ′ and e ′ ′.

The on a loft enclosed in the roof truss and Paul Ott -Orgel of 1966/67 operates with mechanical key action and grinding charge and comprises two manuals , a pedal and 18 register .
