Friederike Meinel (born May 6, 1974 in Jena ) is a German opera singer ( soprano / mezzo-soprano ).

Life

Friederike Meinel first studied in Berlin at the Hochschule der Künste with Ingrid Figur and later with Rudolf Piernay in Mannheim. In 2002 she took her concert exam. She was a master class student with Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau and Aribert Reimann for several years . Ingrid Bjoner and Helmut Kretschmar were also important teachers for her .

In the 2000/01 season she was a member of the Young Ensemble of the Bavarian State Opera in Munich. From 2001 to 2003 she was a soprano at the Wuppertaler Bühnen . In the 2003/04 and 2004/05 seasons she sang as a member of the ensemble at the Cologne Opera . In 2001 the singer made her debut in Vienna at the Wiener Festwochen in the title role in Penthesilea - A Dream under the direction of Ulf Schirmer . She sang the role of Hilde in Peter Ruzicka's opera Celan at the Semperoper in Dresden under Marc Albrecht , in 2004 she sang in the world premiere of Glas im Bauch at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich. Friederike Meinel made her Swiss debut in 2009 as Conception in L'heure espagnole by Maurice Ravel and as Philomene in Alexandre bis by Bohuslav Martinů at the opera Bienne / Solothurn. The singer sang roles such as Donna Elvira ( Don Giovanni ), Madame Lidoine ( Conversations of the Carmelites ), Tatjana ( Eugen Onegin ), La Malaspina ( Luci mie traditrici ), Freia ( Das Rheingold ), 3. Norn ( Götterdämmerung ) and Ortlinde ( The Valkyrie ).

The singer has worked in the course of her previous operatic activities a. a. with the conductors Jun Märkl, Peter Schneider, Jeffrey Tate and the directors Claus Guth and Robert Carsen.

Friederike Meinel gave concerts a. a. with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra , the Berlin Symphony Orchestra , the Bavarian State Orchestra , the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne, the Berlin Symphony Orchestra and the Baden-Baden Philharmonic and was a guest in the Berlin Philharmonic, the Rudolfinum Prague, the Cuvilliès Theater Munich, the Prinzregententheater Munich , the Berlin Konzerthaus, the large broadcasting hall of West German Broadcasting in Cologne , the Rheinsberg Castle Chamber Opera and the Heidelberg Spring. Song recitals led the singer z. B. to Cologne, where she created one evening within the concert series of the Cologne Philharmonic and WDR under the artistic direction of Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau “Franz Schubert - Die Lieder” or to Chicago , where she could be heard at the Ravinia Festival .

From 2008 to 2016 she was the patron of the award-winning nationwide benefit concert series "Children help children - music creates future" for the benefit of Catania . In 2016 she was appointed ambassador for Kiwanis Germany by the Board of Directors of Kiwanis Germany, the Foundation and the Kiwanis Board of Trustees and is now continuing the benefit concert series for Kiwanis Germany.
