society

Frontzeck played 50 games for Borussia Mönchengladbach from 1959 to 1963 in what was then the first-class Oberliga West , in which he scored a goal. He made his debut on September 20, 1959 at the home game against Rot-Weiss Essen in the league. Together with Karl-Heinz Mülhausen and Hans Göbbels he formed Borussia's runner row. At the end of the round, Frontzeck had played 24 league games for the Bökelberg team. The team from Niederrhein achieved the best placement in the 1960/61 season with a positive point ratio of 31:29 points in sixth place. It was the era of the series championship of 1. FC Cologne in the Oberliga West; Frontzeck had played 21 games and scored one goal.

In the first half of the 1960/61 season, however, the success with the Gladbachers in the 1960 DFB Cup was more outstanding . Even winning the final of the West German Cup on August 24, 1960 in Düsseldorf 3-1 against 1. FC Köln was considered a sensation. Frontzeck acted on the middle runner role in the World Cup system practiced at the time and had primarily dealt with goal scorer Christian Müller . This was followed by the elimination of the then German champions Hamburger SV in the semi-finals of the DFB Cup on September 7th, 1960. The Gladbachers, not perceived as an equal competitor, prevailed 2-0 at HSV and center runner Frontzeck prevented striker Uwe Seeler from scoring a goal . In the final of the DFB Cup on October 5, 1960 against Karlsruher SC , Frontzeck contributed to the 3-2 victory by fighting against KSC half-striker Günter Herrmann . As a result, Borussia Mönchengladbach was qualified for the first ever European Cup Winners' Cup in 1960/61. Frontzeck came in the two games in November 1960 against the eventual finalists Glasgow Rangers (0: 3, 0: 8). His last league appearance was on January 14, 1963, when Borussia scored 1-1 in the game at Viktoria Köln. Teammates were goalkeeper Manfred Orzessek and field players Heinz Lowin , Gerd Schommen , Franz Brungs , Heinz Crawatzo , Ulrich Kohn , Herbert L Bäumen and Helmut Fendel . For round 1963/64 he joined the VVV-Venlo in the Netherlands, for which he ran up 21 times in the Eerste Divisie .
