Friedrich (Saarbruecken)
Friedrich was the first count to name himself after Saarbrücken Castle . He probably died before 1135, since his son is attested as a count in that year.
He inherited the rule in 1105 from his father, the Saargau Count Sigebert . His brothers were the Speyer Bishop Bruno and the Archbishop of Mainz Adalbert . He was married to Gisela, a granddaughter of Count Dietmar von Selbold-Gelnhausen , who brought her possessions around the Hornbach monastery into the marriage.
Friedrich is first mentioned in 1118 as "Count of Saarbrücken". The counts of Saarbrücken were vassals of the bishops of Metz .
