Friedrich Alexander Leopold Cranz

Friedrich Alexander Leopold Cranz (born May 12, 1807 in Berlin ; † August 27, 1878 in Posen ) was a German Protestant clergyman.

Life

Friedrich Cranz was the son of the later secret registrar in the Prussian Ministry of Agriculture Friedrich Wilhelm Cranz and his wife Friederique Magdalene nee Tagleb. He attended the Friedrich-Werdersche Gymnasium in Berlin, where he graduated from high school in 1823. He then studied theology in Berlin and Halle and was ordained in 1833 . In Torgau he got a job as a division preacher . During this time he met Friederike Schaper, the daughter of the Prussian Lieutenant General Heinrich Johann von Schaper , whom he married in 1839. His father-in-law promoted his further career and appointed him as a co-lean of the Falkenberg / Elster manor .

In 1840 Cranz was appointed the first military preacher in Poznan, in 1846 a member of the consistory and in 1855 general superintendent of the ecclesiastical province of Poznan . He was also pastor at the St. Pauli Church in Posen.

In 1850 he was a member of the Volkshaus of the Erfurt Union Parliament . He was awarded the Red Eagle Order IV class.

His daughter Ella (* 1845) married the later general of the infantry Eberhard von Mantey in 1868 .
