Friedrich August Möbius (born July 17, 1869 in Annaberg ; † January 31, 1939 in Braunschweig ) was a German teacher and Ore Mountain dialect poet.

Life

Möbius was the son of the Annaberg merchant Friedrich Möbius. After attending school he worked as an assistant teacher and attended the Conservatory for Music in Dresden , where he trained as a voice teacher. From 1932 Möbius worked as a lecturer for phonetics , the art of speaking, voice and speech medicine at the College for Teacher Training in Braunschweig, and in the same year he joined the NSDAP . His teaching assignment was canceled in 1938 because he no longer corresponded to the National Socialist ideas of a new type of teacher. He died a little later as a result of an operation.

In his free time he composed several poems and songs in the dialect of the Western Ore Mountains . The best known and most widespread was the song on the Pöhlberg from 1905 .
