Friedrich August Trenkler (born September 6, 1836 in Loschwitz near Dresden , †  August 1, 1910 in Dresden) was a Saxon conductor , royal music director and composer of marching music .

Live and act

After studying music, Trenkler joined the Saxon army. From 1867 to 1889 he was a conductor in the 2nd Royal Saxon Grenadier Regiment No. 101 in Dresden . With his band he took part in a competition for military bands in the Netherlands in 1873.

In 1879 Trenkler was appointed Royal Saxon Music Director. From 1890 to 1903 he was the conductor and artistic director of the Dresden Philharmonic , which at that time was still called the Gewerbehaus-Kapelle. Trenckler, who last lived at Marsdorfer Straße 5 in Dresden, died in Dresden in 1910 and was buried in the Inner Neustädter Friedhof .

Act

As a composer Trenkler wrote over 180 orchestral works, which were mainly, but not exclusively, played in Saxony. The Wettin Jubilee March was the parade march for foot troops of the 1st Royal Saxon Field Artillery Regiment No. 12 in Dresden and later the 4th (Prussian-Saxon) Artillery Regiment of the Reichswehr and the Wehrmacht ( Artillery Regiment 4 ).
