Friedrich Becker (painter, 1808)

Friedrich Becker (* 1808 in Paderborn ; † after 1859 ) was a German genre , history and portrait painter from the Düsseldorf School .

Life

After working as an engraver and lithographer , Becker began studying painting at the Düsseldorf Art Academy in 1829 , which he initially interrupted in 1830. In 1839, at the advanced age of 32, he resumed his studies, only to finish it in 1842/1843. Rudolf Wiegmann and Theodor Hildebrandt were his teachers at the Düsseldorf Academy . Becker lived in Düsseldorf and was one of the founding members of the Malkasten artists' association there in 1848 . He exhibited at Berlin academic art exhibitions in 1836, 1838, 1844 and 1848. His oeuvre includes genre paintings, portraits as well as literary, mythological and biblical histories.
