Friedrich Benedict Weber

Friedrich Benedict Weber (born November 11, 1774 in Leipzig , † March 8, 1848 in Breslau ) was a German camera scientist . From 1811 he taught at the new Silesian Friedrich Wilhelms University in Breslau and wrote extensive textbooks and handbooks on agricultural science .

Friedrich Benedict Weber studied law and camera science at the University of Leipzig from 1792 to 1796 , then went into agricultural practice for two years and received the Venia legendi for camera science in Leipzig in 1799 . In 1802 he accepted a call as professor for camera sciences at the Brandenburg University of Frankfurt . From there he went on numerous agricultural study trips. From 1811 he taught as full professor for economics and camera sciences at the Silesian Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität, founded after the Peace of Tilsit . In 1825/26 he was its rector . From 1812 to 1847 he was also secretary of the economic (agricultural) section of the Silesian Society for Patriotic Culture .

Weber is one of the most productive authors in the field of camera sciences. His field of work was primarily the science of agriculture . He wrote a variety of textbooks and manuals on plant cultivation , animal breeding and agricultural economics . His most extensive work is a bibliography of agricultural literature, carefully structured and annotated according to subject area , which appeared in 15 volumes between 1803 and 1842 under the title Handbuch der Oekonomischen Literatur . Weber was also the editor of several agricultural magazines and series of publications. In agricultural historiography, his work has so far been largely ignored.
