Friedrich Buri

Friedrich Buri (born December 24, 1860 in Bangerten , † June 24, 1937 in Bern , reformed , resident in Bangerten) was a Swiss politician (FDP) .

Life

Friedrich Buri was born on December 24, 1860 in Bangerten as the son of the smallholder and leather merchant Johannes Buri and Elisabeth, born Schnell. After attending secondary school in Fraubrunnen , Friedrich Buri, a member of the Berna student union, studied law at the University of Bern from 1882 to 1884 .

He began his professional career in 1885 as a notary in Wimmis . As a result, he served as the court president in Fraubrunnen from 1888 to 1915, before he was employed as administrator of the Fraubrunnen office savings bank until his death. In addition, he acted as a substitute judge of the Federal Insurance Court .

Friedrich Buri, father of the BGB politician Dewet Buri , was married to Marie-Louise née Meyer, the second to Rosa née Sieber, the daughter of an innkeeper in Fraubrunner. He died on June 24, 1937, six months after he was 76 years old in Bern.

Political activity

As a member of the Free Democratic Party was Friedrich Buri Municipality Fraubrunnen 1888-1915 as mayor before. In addition, he was elected to the National Council in the parliamentary elections in 1905 , to which he was a member until 1919. He was also represented in the Federal Assembly's agricultural club .

Friedrich Buri stood out above all in his various judicial functions. He also acted as the initiator of the Solothurn-Zollikofen-Bern Railway . In the National Council, he played a key role in drafting the Swiss Civil Code (ZGB) and the Federal Act on Health and Accident Insurance.
