Dewet Buri (born February 9, 1901 in Fraubrunnen ; † March 14, 1995 in Iffwil ; reformed ; entitled to live in Bangerten ) was a Swiss politician (BGB) .

Life

Dewet Buri was born on February 9, 1901 in Fraubrunnen as the son of the liberal politician Friedrich Buri . Dewet Buri received his school education first in Fraubrunnen, then at the Rütti agricultural schools in the municipality of Zollikofen and in Pruntrut . As a result, he ran an agricultural business in Etzelkofen . In addition, he served in the Swiss Army with the rank of colonel as train chief of an army corps .

Dewet Buri was married to Martha, the daughter of the Etzelkofner farmer and magistrate Rudolf Eberhart. He died on March 14, 1995, five weeks after he had turned 94 in Iffwil.

Political activity

Dewet Buri, a member of the farmers ', trade and citizens' party, began his political career in 1934 in the Bernese Grand Council , of which he was a member until 1949. Subsequently, Dewet Buri was a member of the government council between 1949 and 1969 , in which he initially headed the forestry and agriculture directorate and later the military directorate. In addition, he represented his canton in the National Council from 1947 to 1957 , and in direct succession in the Council of States from 1957 to 1971 . In addition, he presided over the agricultural club of the federal councils and from 1946 to 1951 the Bernese civil code.

Dewet Buri was considered to be one of the leading representatives of the peasant associations at cantonal and federal level. He played a key role in drafting the cantonal and federal land law and agricultural law. He also emerged as a sponsor of agricultural schools.
