Friedrich Eduard von Buchwaldt (born February 19, 1871 , † April 2, 1954 ) was a German lieutenant colonel , count , squire , provost of Uetersen and politician.

Life

He was a member of the influential Holstein noble family von Buchwaldt . His parents were the chamberlain and court chief Friedrich Otto Christian von Buchwaldt (1826–1904) and his wife Henriette Elisabeth born. Paulsen (1836-1925). His wife was Elisabeth Marie Susanne Georgine, from the Mesmer-Saldern family (1881–1968), whom he married in 1909. From this marriage came the later councilor and Rittmeister Hermann Caspar Friedrich Heinrich Otto Christian von Buchwaldt (born October 11, 1910; (X) since January 31, 1943 in Russia ).

Buchwaldt was elected provost of the Uetersen monastery in 1921 to succeed Ernst Emil Kurt von Reventlow . He took office in difficult times. He negotiated with the city of Uetersen about the sale of monastery land, after these negotiations had failed several times, the city now urged the provost Buchwald and the convent under threat of expropriation to sell monastery land to build new residential areas. Due to his negotiating skills, only part of the town's land was later given over. At a dressing-up ceremony on October 3, 1932, the priest Louise von Rumohr paid tribute to Friedrich Eduard von Buchwaldt, who was not present, with the words: We owe a great deal of thanks to the priest, who does all he can for our monastery, to all of us to keep what we have today. But, dear Conventuals, I can sacredly assure you that this has been achieved with great battles.

He resigned from the post of monastery provost in 1934, and was succeeded by Arved von Wedderkop .
