Friedrich Eibner (born February 25, 1825 in Hilpoltstein , † November 18, 1877 in Munich ) was a German architectural painter.

Live and act

Friedrich Eibner was initially self-taught. From 1842 he became a private student of Gustav Kraus and Heinrich Schönfeld in Munich . Eibner showed his first work, the view of the old Munich town hall in 1847 in the Munich Art Association . He created further cityscapes from Bavaria's cities, then from France and in 1853 and 1856 from Northern Italy.

He spent the years 1860 and 1861 in Spain in the entourage of the Russian Grand Duke Alexander Mestschersky . 35 sheets of the 65 watercolors created there were published in color by the Berlin publisher L. Sachse & Co.

King Friedrich Wilhelm IV acquired a collection of his watercolors from Germany and France. On behalf of King Ludwig II of Bavaria , Eibner created a large-format picture of the interior of the Frauenkirche in Munich .

The tomb of Frederick Eibner is on the old southern cemetery in Munich (burial ground 41 - row 13 - 24th) Location . His son, the chemist and painting technician Alexander Eibner (1862–1935) also lies in the grave.
