Friedrich Gren (* before 1399 in Styria , † March 17, 1452 ) was called Friedrich III. Bishop of Seckau .

Life

Friedrich Gren was born in Styria. From 1415 he was a cleric and notary in the Archdiocese of Salzburg , and in 1429 he was ordained a priest . From 1416 he studied at the University of Vienna and was accepted as a university notary in 1419. His benefices included the parishes of Kirchbichl and Pöchlarn , the canonical in St. Bartholomäus in Friesach , the parishes of Mannswörth , Abstetten and Gmünd in Carinthia , the provost's office in Vigilienberg in Friesach, the parish of Laufen on the Salzach and a canonical at Freising Cathedral .

In December 1424 Gren stayed in Rome and was appointed papal notary. From 1429 to 1430 he studied canon law at the University of Padua , from 1432 he was secretary and in 1433 protonotary of the Salzburg archbishop Johann von Reisberg . As its representative he was present at the Frankfurt negotiations in 1446, which led to the recognition of Pope Eugen IV .

In 1446 he was appointed Bishop of Seckau . He died in 1452, his grave is in the Seckau basilica .
