Friedrich Hoffmann (economist)

Friedrich Johannes Joachim Hoffmann (born October 13, 1880 in Kiel ; † September 17, 1963 there ) was a German economist .

Life

After taking his Abitur, Friedrich Hoffmann turned to studying economics at the Universities of Kiel and Berlin , which he achieved in 1907 in Kiel with the academic degree of Dr. phil. completed. In 1909 he qualified as a professor for economic political science at the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel, and from 1911 to 1914 he was an employee of the Prussian Ministry of Education .

Friedrich Hoffmann, who was appointed professor in 1914, became a full professor at the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz University in Hanover in 1915 , and in the following year he moved to the University of Istanbul in the same function , and in 1918 he moved to Kiel University as professor and deputy director of the Institute for World Economy and Maritime Transport. In 1922 Hoffmann accepted an appointment as full professor at the University of Rostock , and in 1924 he moved to the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität , Münster; there he was together with Werner Friedrich Bruck and Heinrich Weber director of the Institute for Economic and Social Sciences. In 1931 he accepted a position at the University of Greifswald . In 1935 he returned to the Westphalian Wilhelms University as director of the Institute for Economic and Social Science. Most recently, from 1941 until his retirement in 1947, he held the full professorship in political science at Kiel University.
