Friedrich Holzweissig

Friedrich Wilhelm Holzweissig (born October 27, 1846 in Delitzsch , † March 30, 1922 in Berlin-Wilmersdorf ) was a German Protestant theologian , classical philologist and high school teacher.

Life

After graduating from high school in Wittenberg, Holzweissig studied Protestant theology , classical philology and philosophy in Halle an der Saale . From 1869 he worked alongside his doctorate as a high school teacher in Stendal . In 1871 he switched to the secondary school in Bielefeld as a senior teacher. Twelve years later he took the position of director at the municipal Victoria-Gymnasium in Burg near Magdeburg. He carried out the same activity from 1895 to 1907 at the Domgymnasium Magdeburg and from 1907 until his retirement at the Königlichen Stifts-Gymnasium in Zeitz .

Holzweissig wrote various school and exercise books for ancient language teaching as well as guidelines for religious instruction. In addition, he revised the first section (elementary, form and word theory) of Raphael Kühner 's detailed grammar of the Latin language .
