Friedrich Karl Fromme

Friedrich Karl Fromme (born June 10, 1930 in Dresden , † January 14, 2007 in Bernkastel-Kues ) was a German journalist .

life and work

Fromme was used as the son of the surgeon Albert Fromme and his wife Helene. Loeb was born and attended the humanistic Vitzthum high school in Dresden. As a result of his parents' bourgeois background, he was unable to study medicine in the Soviet occupation zone . In 1949 he went to the West and first studied physics and chemistry in Berlin, from 1951 political science, public law and sociology in Tübingen . After receiving his doctorate in 1957 under Theodor Eschenburg with a dissertation on the subject of From the Weimar Constitution to the Bonn Basic Law , he initially worked as an assistant and lecturer at the Department of Scientific Policy at the University of Tübingen. On the side he had been doing some journalistic work since 1958 before he became editor at Süddeutscher Rundfunk in autumn 1962 .

In the summer of 1964 he joined the editorial team of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung . From 1968 to 1972 he worked as a correspondent for the newspaper in Bonn , from 1974 until his retirement in 1997 he was head of the domestic policy department with a special focus on legal policy. From 1998 Fromme was a permanent contributor to Welt am Sonntag . Since 2005 he has been writing regularly for the right-wing weekly newspaper Junge Freiheit . Fromme last lived in Mettmann .

Honors

In 1991 Fromme was awarded the Great Federal Cross of Merit. In 1997 he received the Theodor Wolff Prize for his life's work as a journalist .
