Carl Conrad Friedrich Röder (born December 28, 1808 in Nordhausen ; † January 28, 1870 in Köslin ) was a German philologist and high school teacher . He headed the high schools in Neustettin and Köslin one after the other and was a member of the Frankfurt National Assembly for the Neustettin constituency in 1848/1849 .

Life

Friedrich Röder was born the son of the master shoemaker Ernst August Röder in Nordhausen, where he attended high school. From 1826 he studied at the University of Halle and was awarded a Dr. phil. PhD.

He chose the profession of high school teacher . As such, he initially worked at the grammar school in his hometown of Nordhausen. In 1843 he published a text Pedagogical Prospects and Prospects . Probably because of the attention this publication drew to Röder, he was appointed director of the Fürstin-Hedwig-Gymnasium in Neustettin in Pomerania in 1844.

Röder worked in Neustettin for 17 years. According to Richard Hoche's judgment in the Allgemeine Deutsche Biographie , Röder knew how to “arouse life and enthusiasm and have a lasting effect on his students and fellow officials”. Röder was also politically involved. In 1848 he was elected to the Frankfurt National Assembly for the Neustettiner constituency , where he belonged to the hereditary imperial casino party .

Röder was married to a daughter of the philologist Karl Gottlob August Erfurdt, who worked in Königsberg (Prussia) .

In 1861 Röder was appointed director of the grammar school in Köslin . But he soon fell ill and died in 1870 after a long illness. After Röder's death in 1879 a memorial was erected to him on the sports field of the Fürstin-Hedwig-Gymnasium.
