Friedrich Schneeberger

Friedrich Schneeberger (born February 25, 1843 in Schoren near Langenthal ; † May 21, 1906 in Biel ) was a Swiss singing teacher , music publisher and composer .

Life

Friedrich Schneeberger grew up in Schoren near Langenthal in the canton of Bern . After an apprenticeship in Langenthal, he attended the teachers' seminar in Münchenbuchsee . He began as a teacher in Wynigen , then as a singing teacher in Aarberg , while he continued to train himself in singing with Gustav Weber . From 1872 to 1899 he was a singing teacher at the Progymnasium in Biel , after which he founded a music business and a music publisher in this city.

Schneeberger composed around 300 choral works. His most important work is the song The Last Postillon from Gotthard from 1882, a setting of a poem by Arnold Lang . In the Swiss National Library, 32 titles are recorded as composers' bequests.
