Friedrich Wiest

Friedrich Wiest (born January 31, 1937 in Laubach ; † May 4, 2012 in Memmingen ) was a German artist .

Life

Born and raised in Laubach near Ochsenhausen in Upper Swabia , Wiest studied after graduating from high school from 1954 to 1959 at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart, engineering, wall and glass painting. His teachers were Professors Hugo Peters , Manfred Henninger and Rudolf Yelin the Younger . Subsequently, he was a lecturer for teacher training in various cities.

From 1962 to 1997 he was an art teacher , most recently at the Ochsenhausen high school . Wiest's oil-on-canvas works, which are medium-sized in terms of format, deal with the landscape immediately surrounding him. Another focus of his work were still lifes .

Wiest was married and had one son.
