Upper Swabian Art Prize

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Upper Swabian Art Prize is one with a prize money of 15,000 euros to the most lucrative art prizes in Germany. It was donated in 1951 by the then districts of Biberach , Ravensburg , Saulgau and Wangen and was first awarded in 1952. In 1976 the energy supply company Zweckverband Oberschwäbische Elektrizitätswerke (OEW), which is owned by nine Baden-Württemberg districts, renewed the foundation.

The prize was last awarded every two years from 2001 to 2013; the award has been suspended since 2015. Can be distinguished artists who either within its territory for the OEW ( Alb-Donau-Kreis , district of Biberach , Bodenseekreis , district of Freudenstadt , Ravensburg county , district of Reutlingen , Rottweil district , district Sigmaringen and Zollernalbkreis ) including Stadtkreis Ulm were born or at least the last resided there for five years without interruption.

The prize is awarded either in recognition of the complete oeuvre of an already established artist or as a sponsorship prize for artists under 35. The OEW Board of Directors decides on the recognition award and a jury decides on the sponsorship award. The award includes an exhibition of works by the winner (selected by the jury).
