Friedrich Wilhelm Prüfer

Friedrich Wilhelm Prüfer (born March 22, 1818 in Oberwiesenthal , † May 31, 1888 in Mügeln ) was a German conservative politician .

The son of the tradesman and trimmers Johann Wilhelm Prüfer (1783–1835) in Unterwiesenthal attended the community school in his home town of Oberwiesenthal until 1832 . He then moved to the high school in Annaberg , which he left in 1838 with a high school diploma. After studying law at the University of Leipzig , which he completed from 1838 to 1841, he returned to Oberwiesenthal in 1843 as a recorder. In 1846 he initially took over the position of actuary at the district court of Mügeln, but soon rose to the position of assessor . Since 1874 he was allowed to hold the title of Commissioner. He was the founder of the local savings bank in Mügeln and co-financed the founding of the Schuricht & Prüfer shoe factory , in which his son Carl Prüfer (1848-1924) was involved.

Prüfer belonged to the Second Chamber of the Saxon State Parliament in 1849 and 1849/50 as a representative of the 17th electoral district and from 1877 to 1873 as a representative of the 9th urban constituency .

The city of Mügeln honored him with an honorary citizen . In the city of Freiberg, Prüferstrasse bears his name.
