Friedrich Wilhelm von Wittenhorst-Sonsfeld

Friedrich Wilhelm von Wittenhorst-Sonsfeld (* 1645 , † 9. May 1711 ) was a kurbrandenburger lieutenant general , treasurer and chief of a newly established Dragoon Regiment (later Kursassier Regiment. 7). He was also Drost von Huissen , Lymers and Sebenaer .

He was the son of Herrmann von Wittenhorst-Sonsfeld and Freiin Wilhelmine von Gent (1622–1670) from the Dieben family.

He became an officer in Brandenburg under Elector Friedrich Wilhelm . Between 1689 and 1690 he was castle captain and colonel . He recruited a dragoon regiment in Prussia. The regiment was replenished with a few free companies, and he became chief of this regiment (later Kursassier Regiment No. 7). In 1692 he became a brigadier and in 1695 major general , in 1704 he was elevated to lieutenant general.

Around 1707 he moved the family's residence from the old Sonsfeld Castle near Haldern , which was demolished shortly afterwards, to Haus Aspel .

His wife was Amalie Henriette von Schwerin (1658–1699). She was the daughter of the Chief President Otto von Schwerin . The couple had the following children:
