Friedrich von Aspern

Friedrich August von Aspern (born September 12, 1811 in Altona , † October 30, 1890 in Hamburg ) was a German doctor and historian .

Life

family

Friedrich was a member of a family that had moved from Copenhagen to Northern Germany. His parents were the Altona police master and councilor Wilhelm von Aspern (1770–1831) and Maria Hartog (1777–1843).

He married Wilhelmine Ellerbrock (1813-1893) in 1838. The marriage resulted in a daughter and four sons.

From 1829 to 1835 Friedrich von Aspern first studied law , then medicine , visiting the universities of Göttingen , Jena , Berlin , Heidelberg and finally Kiel , where he was awarded a Dr. med. received his doctorate . From 1835 to 1838 he lived in Wandsbeck and then as a doctor in Ahrensburg until 1841 , then in Hamburg .

In addition to his work as a practicing doctor, he devoted himself to local historical research and was a member of the Schleswig-Holstein-Lauenburg Society for Patriotic History in Kiel, the Westphalian Society for History for the Promotion of Patriotic Culture, and since 1856 a corresponding member of the Society for History and Archeology of the Baltic provinces of Russia .

Aspern was buried in the churchyard of the Jakobikirche .

In the Ohlsdorf cemetery , doctors from the Althamburg Memorial Cemetery are reminded of Friedrich von Aspern, among others , on the collective memorial plaque.
