Friedrich von Greis (born May 27, 1779 in Kitzingen , † February 6, 1847 in Würzburg ) was an ennobled major general in the Bavarian Army .

biography

Friedrich Greis came from Franconia and joined the Bavarian army. Here he took part in the coalition wars and was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Legion of Honor. He then fought in the Wars of Liberation and received for his bravery in the Battle of Bar-sur-Aube on February 27, 1814, the Knight's Cross of the Military Max Joseph Order , combined with the personal title of knight of . He also wore the First Class Knight's Cross of the Russian Order of St. Stanislaus , the Second Class Cross of the Russian Order of St. Anne , the Bavarian Military Monument 1813-1815 and, from 1835, the Bavarian Order of Louis .

As a colonel , Friedrich von Greis was in command of the Bavarian Infantry Leib-Regiment from 1824 to 1836 . He then advanced to major general and chief of the 1st Bavarian Infantry Brigade in the Association of the 4th Bavarian Army Division .

Ritter von Greis had been married to Carolina zur Westen since 1829, with whom he had three children. He died of pneumonia in Würzburg in 1847, after receiving the catholic sacraments. His widow Carolina von Greis died in Munich in 1849.
