Friedrich von Hamrath
Friedrich Hamrath , von Hamrath since 1702 , (* 1665 in Berlin , † December 21, 1726 in Halberstadt ) was a Prussian statesman.
Life
Origin and family
Friedrich von Hamrath came from an originally Cologne family of tailors that ultimately came to the Berlin court through the Thirty Years' War . His father Friedrich Hamrath (1620–1672) became, through the intercession of Konrad von Burgsdorff whose valet he was initially, electoral body tailor in 1646, and finally electoral valet in 1666. His mother, his father's second wife, was Catharina Sabina Friesen (1640–1701), daughter of the Berlin jeweler and councilor Christoph Friesen († 1657). Two of his brothers-in-law, married to sisters from his father's first marriage, were Hofrat Heinrich von Cheuwen and the secret secretary, later director of the chamber, Dietrich Wilhelm von Dieckhof (1692–1758). Friedrich von Hamrath died without leaving any children.
Career
Hamrath was 1696-1702 Privy Secretary, and later Councilor, and was promoted on February 9, 1702 its elevation into the Prussian nobility to Requetenmeister (Maitre of Requetes) of the king , and the secret State Council and upper director of the domain and finance. In 1705 he became a real secret council and was president of the secret court chamber.
After falling out of favor in 1707 for offenses, the nobility was withdrawn from him on December 6, 1708. Nonetheless, on December 4, 1708 , the fortress commander zu Peitz received the order to grant Hamrath, who was arrested there, relief in the context of his fortress detention. The prisoner was allowed to walk on the ramparts of the citadel. He is also allowed to attend the Sunday and weekday sermons in the upper fortress. It was not until the autumn of 1709 that Ernst Bogislav von Kameke was appointed to his position as a speaker on chamber, forest and hunting matters in the Secret Court Chamber, the Secret Council of State and the Royal Cabinet. Only in 1711 did he regain his freedom after the Crown Prince had interceded , and after his accession to power, on March 27, 1713, he was confirmed as a Real Privy Councilor, as well as being appointed District President and Director of the Principality of Halberstadt .
