Friedrichsdorf is a district of Eberbach in the Rhein-Neckar district in Baden-Württemberg .

Geographical location

Friedrichsdorf is eight kilometers northeast of the core town of Eberbach and occupies the left eastern valley side of the Itterbach up to the Fahrbach in the north. Both waters form the border with Hesse . Friedrichsdorf borders in the northeast on the Hessian town of Kailbach in the city of Oberzent , in the east on the Mudau district of Reisenbach , in the south on the Eberbach district of Gaimühle and in the west on the Hessian towns of Hebstahl and Unter-Sensbach in the town of Oberzent.

The place is unofficially divided into Oberdorf and Unterdorf, which are denominationally divided: the Oberdorf at the confluence of the Fahrbach into the Itter is traditionally Catholic, the Unterdorf about 1000 meters down the valley is Protestant.

The Badisch-Schöllenbach exclave north of Kailbach must be added to the Friedrichsdorf district . Together with this exclave, the district covers an area of 555 hectares, 395 hectares of which are forest.

The highest elevation south of the village is the wooded Rote Sol ( 488.1  m above sea level ), the southern slope of which forms the southernmost part of the district up to the district road 4114 am Reisenbach . In the Badisch Schöllenbach exclave, the district at the small fort Jägerwiese of the Neckar-Odenwald-Limes reaches a height of 495  m above sea level. NN . The lowest point is in the Itter valley floodplain at Tiefenklingenschlag at approx. 189  m above sea level. NN .

history

Friedrich III, who resided in Zwingenberg Castle. von Hirschhorn founded the Friedrichsdorf settlement in 1614 in a forest area dominated by Zwingenberg. After the settlement was destroyed again in the Thirty Years' War , Swiss emigrants settled again in Friedrichsdorf in 1681. The place initially belonged to the Electoral Palatinate , then fell to Baden in 1808. In 1925 Badisch-Schöllenbach was incorporated into Friedrichsdorf. In 1931 and 1935 attempts to incorporate Friedrichsdorf into Eberbach failed. Finally, on January 1, 1973, Friedrichsdorf voluntarily joined forces with Eberbach.

traffic

Friedrichsdorf is traversed by Landesstraße 2311, which connects the place with Eberbach and Kailbach. Friedrichsdorf is also connected by a bus line.

On the Hessian side of the Itterbach valley, the Odenwaldbahn with the Haintal viaduct is located between the Hesseneck Kailbach stop and the former Friedrichsdorf stop (b Eberbach) .
