Friesenhausen is a district of the municipality of Aidhausen in the Haßberge district in Bavaria with 322 inhabitants.

history

In 824 Frieso donated land to the Fulda monastery in what is now Friesenhausen's district . This is the first documentary mention, but the roots are likely to be well before that. In the 18th century, the place rose to market town . In the period from 1521 to 1940, at least seven different noble families ruled the village .

On May 1, 1978, the Friesenhausen market was incorporated into the community of Aidhausen.

Attractions

The main attraction of the small town is the privately owned Friesenhausen Castle . It also has a small Roman Catholic church and a larger Protestant church. Until well into the 20th century there were two village schools , one Protestant and one Catholic. There are currently none.

Jewish life in Friesenhausen

From 1825 to 1870/71, Friesenhausen had a relatively large Jewish community with its own synagogue , which the Synagogenweg still bears witness to today. The existence of a ritual bath ( mikveh ), for which a stream was specially diverted, was of particular importance for Jewish community life in the wider area . Synagogue and mikveh are currently residential buildings. The deceased members were buried in the Jewish cemetery in Kleinsteinach in the Riedbach community .

Club life

Friesenhausen is for amateur theater performances of the theater club known that every year attract a variety of visitors to the village. The association "Better Living Together Haßberge eV" promotes a sustainable, self-sufficient and intergenerational coexistence in the village with various projects. There is also a football club and other sports and music clubs.
