Fritz Doerr

Fritz Doerr (born December 29, 1858 in Worms ; † 1935 ) was a German leather manufacturer.

Life

Fritz Doerr was the son of the Worms leather manufacturer and secret councilor Johann Baptist Doerr . After graduating from high school in his hometown, he studied chemistry at the universities of Zurich and Bonn . In 1877 he became a member of the Corps Tigurinia Zurich . A year later he joined the Corps Hansea Bonn . In Bonn he served as a one-year volunteer in the Hussar Regiment "King Wilhelm I" (1st Rheinisches) No. 7 of the Prussian Army . Two years later he became a reserve officer in the Leib-Dragoon Regiment (2nd Grand Ducal Hessian) No. 24 in Darmstadt. In 1882 he did an internship in a tannery in Paris and in 1883 in a London bank. In the same year he joined his father's company, Doerr & Reinhart, Lederwerke in Worms. At the end of 1889 he became a partner in the company. From 1898 he was Worms city councilor, later also a member of the Worms district council and the provincial council for Rheinhessen . He took part in the First World War until 1917, first as a captain and later as a major .

Doerr was a board member of Section IV of the leather industrial trade associations, chairman of the Worms Chamber of Industry and Commerce , member of the main committee of the German Industry and Commerce Conference in Berlin and for three years the representative of the Worms Chamber of Commerce at the German Industry and Commerce Conference .
