Fritz Hess (bookseller)

Fritz Hess (* 2. October 1901 in Engelberg , † 28 / 29. August 1991 ; heimatberechtigt in Engelberg) was a Swiss bookstore manager .

Life

The son of the stationery dealer Robert Hess attended middle school and trade school. In the 1930s he organized "a meeting of young, oppositional booksellers" together with Herbert Lang , Werner Krebser and Adolf Lüthy in the spirit of intellectual national defense . They “probably linked economic and political issues” in the Swiss bookselling industry for the first time. From 1935 to 1937 Hess was President of the Swiss Book Dealers Association . From 1937 to 1967 he was managing director of the Swiss Association Assortment , the purchasing cooperative of Swiss booksellers.

Hess was married to Bertha Hess-Zimmermann from 1937 and had three children.
