Fritz J. Dold

Friedrich Julius Dold (born April 23, 1949 in Egg , Canton Zurich ) is a Swiss artist.

Life

Fritz Julius Dold grew up in a family of artists. He represents the third generation of glass painters who founded the glass painting studio in St. Gallen in 1920. His father Fritz Werner Dold (1911–1974) and his grandfather Emil Dold were glass painters. After finishing school, Fritz Julius Dold entered the Zurich School of Applied Arts and took the subjects of freehand drawing, modeling and figurative drawing.

From 1965 to 1966 he attended the glass school in Kramsach , Austria and learned figurative drawing in 1967 from the painters Ernst Georg Heussler and Jacques Schedler . From 1967 to 1971 he completed an apprenticeship in glass painting with his father in Zurich. He attended the arts and crafts school in Zurich while working.

After the death of his father, he took over his glass painting studio. He has been working as a freelance artist in Zurich since 1974. From 1987 to 2002 he also worked in the Königsfelden restoration studio .
