Fritz Klenner

Fritz Klenner (born August 13, 1906 in Vienna ; † December 29, 1997 ibid) was an Austrian author, banker, trade unionist, politician and long-time member of the Social Democratic Party of Austria ( SPÖ ) to the Austrian National Council .

Career

After attending four classes of lower secondary school, Klenner became a bank employee (1921–1927) and board member as educational officer and editor of the Association of Bank and Savings Bank Assistants (1924–1934), then an employee of the Zentralsparkasse (1927–1945), where he was a works council or shop steward ( 1928–1938) was. He was a member of the illegal leadership of the free white-collar union (1934-1938) and chairman of the socialist youth workers in Vienna / Josefstadt (Vienna) (1927-1931). During the Second World War he served in the German Wehrmacht in Norway and France . After the war he became an employee of the ÖGB, press officer and editor of the central trade union press (1945-1947), publishing director of the publishing house of the ÖGB and the affiliated companies (1947), deputy general secretary of the ÖGB and member of the board of the International Federation of Free Trade Unions, member of the European Regional Organization (ERO), member of the SPÖ party representation (1957). He was a lecturer in trade union history at the Social Academy of the Chamber for Workers and Employees for Vienna (1956–1968), General Director of BAWAG (1963–1972) and finally Chairman of the Supervisory Board of BAWAG (1972–1981). Klenner was a member of the National Council (VIII - IX GP) for the SPÖ from February 12, 1958 to November 3, 1961. He was buried at the Vienna Central Cemetery .
