Fritz Konzert was born in 1877 as the son of the carpenter Michael Konzert and his wife Aloisia, nee. Socher, born in Innsbruck. After attending the upper secondary school in Innsbruck, he studied at the technical universities in Vienna and Graz . After completing his studies, he worked in Josef Riehl's construction company from 1902 . As a construction technician, he was involved in the construction of the Stubai Valley Railway and the planning of the Montafon Railway , the Tauferer Railway and the Mittenwald Railway . He was the site manager for the construction of the Ausserfernbahn  from Reutte  to the state border.

In 1905 Fritz Konzert entered the service of the city of Innsbruck, where he was promoted to city planning director. He worked in civil engineering and was involved in the construction of schools, municipal companies and two apartment blocks in Pradl . The buildings designed by him show Heimatstil and Art Nouveau elements, later also those of the New Objectivity . Some of the concert buildings reach a high architectural level and are now under monument protection. The designs for the municipal steam bath on Salurner Strasse (1926/27) and the municipal indoor swimming pool on Amraser Strasse (1928/29) come from him, among others . In architectural and functional terms, both are among the most important buildings of the 1920s in Innsbruck and highlights of Tyrolean spa architecture.

As early as 1906, Konzert suggested moving the Arlberg Railway between the main train station  and Westbahnhof in a cut. At that time, the route ran through the urban area at street level and was an obstacle to road traffic, the tram was passed over an iron viaduct. The realization of the project was prevented by the world wars, the new route could not be completed until 1956, which is crossed by the previous roads on bridges. The so-called concert curve has two tracks as a connection between the main train station and Westbahnhof and a third track as a connection between the Arlbergbahn and the freight station. In the course of the previous tram bridge, a new street was built, which was named Fritz-Konzert-Straße .

Honors

In 1937 Fritz received the Concert of the Officer's Cross of the Austrian Order of Merit . In 1957 Fritz Konzert was awarded the Great Decoration of Honor for Services to the Republic of Austria  . The concert curve of the Arlbergbahn and the Fritz-Konzert-Straße leading above it were named after him during his lifetime.
