Julius August Fritz Schmidt (born March 13, 1882 in Wahrenbrück ; † October 1, 1950 in Oberursel ) was a German business economist and economist .

From 1913 he was a professor of business administration in Frankfurt. Schmidt developed the "organic balance sheet theory". His work The organic balance sheet in the context of the economy was published in 1921. In this context, organic means to understand the company as part of the national economy. The claim in this environment justified the existence of the company.

The period of high inflation stimulated his scientific thinking. When entering assets in the balance sheet , Schmidt suggests operating with daily procurement values . The price increases would therefore be recorded. The reproduction cost view should also be applied to the profit and loss account .

In his scientific work, the business economist tried to preserve the unity of economics, consisting of business administration and economics.

He founded the magazine for business administration and was among other things the teacher of Edmund Heinen and Alfred Isaac .
