Fritz Stefens (born October 27, 1948 in Papenburg ) is a former German soccer goalkeeper .

Career

Stefens moved in 1969 from SV Meppen to Bundesliga club Werder Bremen . At SV Werder he was number two in goal behind Günter Bernard , he played six Bundesliga games in two seasons. He then returned to Meppen for a year and, after the runner-up in the Lower Saxony regional league in 1971/72 in the promotion games against ASV Bergedorf 85 , Blumenthaler SV and Schleswig 06, made it to the Regionalliga Nord. Then he tried his luck at the Ruhr Area Association Rot-Weiss Essen . With Essen he rose from the Regionalliga West to the Bundesliga in his first season in 1972/73 . Under coach Diethelm Ferner , he completed two other Bundesliga games. Stefens then tied his shoes in the 2nd Bundesliga, first for 1. FC Mülheim (1974/75, 6 games) and then from 1975 to 1978 for Wuppertaler SV (33 games).
